This workshop draws from our collective practice of honing group connection as a means to push our own physical, theatrical, and energetic edges. Together, we’ll practice listening with our whole bodies, responding to what is present, and finding the richness that emerges when we allow ourselves to be with one another rather than trying to make something happen.

Through solo, partner, and group scores, we’ll use simplicity as a tool for noticing. As awareness deepens, new choices emerge. From this grounded attention, we’ll cultivate lushness, idiosyncrasy, and fierce play, discovering our own dancing presence within the larger whole.

AVID is a collective of experienced movement artists Scott Davis, Aiko Kinoshita, Rachael Lincoln, Aaron Swartzman, and Calie Sweberg. Founded in 2014, AVID has gathered weekly to engage in evolving improvisational structures built upon the practice of interweaving art and life. With regular, live practice/performance, we seek the antidote to disconnection and disaffection. Part creative process lab, part social blessing, part mystery, we push towards courage and risk.

Introductory class every Sunday for the first 1/2 hr of jam.

Class is free with $10–15 jam fee and will take place concurrently with start of the jam (that is, you can jam without being part of the class). 18+

This CI Therapeutic Dance Workshop explores our potentially unexplored psycho-emotional aspects within specific interrelational connections

We’ll dive deep into our internal landscape whilst relating, our unknown, unexpected, surprising aspects of physical & energetic relating, exploring how these experiences affect and change us, as we confront the uncomfortable, yet exciting, and relieving personal mental/emotional truisms.

We’ll gently choose partners with highly intuitional guidance that potentially trigger our patterns, giving us ample chance to move through any stuck internal places with the help of exact experiential awareness.

This guided movement process is meant to enhance our personal evolution/development quickly and safely.
