February 4-25: LILA HURWITZ / FELDENKRAIS & FRIENDS
The Feldenkrais Method is a subtle and powerful system of neuromuscular re-education that evokes changes in muscular tone, flexibility, coordination, attention, and the comfort and efficiency of movement. We'll explore some classic Feldenkrais lessons, do some anatomy review to remind ourselves of the brilliant ways our bodies are designed to move, and delve into issues common to dancers. And we'll play with integrating those awarenesses while dabbling in an array of fabulous improvisational and perceptual practices including Authentic Movement, Contemplative Dance Practice, and the Tuning Score.
Lila is a Guild Certified Feldenkrais Practitioner who has been teaching since 1987, including one of Seattle's longest-running weekly Feldenkrais classes since 1995. She likes to think she introduced Portland, OR, to Authentic Movement in the late 1980s, and learned from and has performed the Tuning Score with Karen Nelson and originator Lisa Nelson. She learned Contemplative Dance Practice from creator Barbara Dilley while on an ACDFA scholarship at Naropa University in 1987. She's performed with Karen Nelson, Lisa Nelson, Stephanie Skura, Bebe Miller, Ann Carlson, Crispin Spaeth, Nina Martin, Mary Oslund, Linda K. Johnson and many others.

NEW! Seattle Wednesday Night Contact Improv Jam
Great news! There is a new weekly contact improv jam happening at OmCulture in Wallingford every Wednesday from 6 - 8 p.m. If you haven't been to OmCulture yet, the space is fantastic! High ceilings, water views, great floor! It's a beautiful, warm environment, perfect for contact.
The culture at this jam will be a little different than the Sunday jam. There will be a short facilitated warm up/exercise from 6:30 to 7 that will take us into the jam. There may music from time to time and a closing circle at 8, so we can dance right up to the last minute.
The price of this jam will be $5 for the first month or so. Eventually, it will go up to $8 but at that time, you can buy a 10 class card for $49 which is good for any event at OmCulture. The pass is also good for Love and Art! parties and many other events at OmCulture.
First jam is WEDNESDAY! January 6, 2010! 6 - 8 p.m. $5
Check out the OmCulture website for directions. omculture.com
